Common questions

Do I need an account to use Papyrus?

No. Papyrus works fully offline and your library lives on your device. An optional account is only needed if you want cloud backup across devices.

How do I add a book?

Tap the add button on your shelf, then search by title, author, or ISBN. Papyrus pulls cover art and details from the public Open Library service, or you can enter a book manually.

How does the home screen widget work?

Add the Papyrus widget from your iPhone's widget gallery. It shows books from your shelf and updates as your library changes. See the in-app widget guide for setup on your specific iOS version.

Your data & backups

Your library is stored locally on your iPhone. You can export your full library from Settings → Export at any time as a backup you keep. If you enable cloud backup, your library also syncs to your account so you can restore it on a new device.

For details on what Papyrus stores and how, see our Privacy Policy.

Importing your library

Coming from another app? Papyrus can import your books from Goodreads or StoryGraph. Export your data from those services as a CSV, then use Settings → Import in Papyrus and select the file. Your ratings, dates, and reading status come along where available.
